PROHIBITION ON OUTDOOR BURNING NOW IN EFFECT
PROHIBITION ON OUTDOOR BURNING NOW IN EFFECT
Our streets department is responsible for maintaining the roads within the Borough limits. You may catch them repairing potholes, mowing grass, maintaining traffic signs, or plowing snow. Feel free to stop them anytime they are out and ask them any questions you may have or a problem you may have noticed regarding our streets.
Here are a few tips to help keep our employees safe:
SLOW DOWN whenever you see a road crew out working. Get into the opposite lane (as far and safe as possible) when passing a work site. Obey the signage & beware of potential hazards! Remember if the road is closed, DO NOT attempt to drive through unless a Borough official authorizes you to proceed.
Thank you for your assistance.
Street Sweeping will be conducted once per year. Ideally, sweeping will occur in May, weather permitting. Residents are advised to look for the "Temporary NO PARKING by order of Police" signs posted on the streets/blocks slated for sweeping. All vehicles must be moved from posted streets/blocks - vehicles that are not moved will be ticketed and possibly towed. Thank you for your cooperation!
The fall 2023 schedule will be available soon.
Weather permitting, curbside leaf collection begins on Friday, October 27th and ends on Saturday, December 8th. Borough Employees start at one side of the Borough and work their way to the other side of the Borough. Ideally, leaves will be picked up on each Borough street at least once a week.
Mt.Penn Borough has a two-man public works crew who operate the Borough's leaf collection vehicle. We ask that residents be patient in waiting for their leaves to be picked up. As such, the Borough is unable to honor individual requests for leaf collection on their street.
The Streets Department will be posting streets during the summer and fall months in preparation for line painting. If your street is posted you are responsible for removing your vehicle from that street. Please note, if your vehicle is not removed, a parking ticket will be issued.
The Borough of Mount Penn does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities. Complaints or requests for modification/accommodation to access a program, service or activity may be directed to borough council at 200 North 25th Street, Reading, PA.
